Proper 48-bit LBA support will get you 2TB max. Can you write a little more why it is better than HDLoader and the likes? Did try the 0.92 version. LBA 48-bit patch. Patched with HDLPatch 0.2c with all. LBA48, no annoying OWNZ screens. II) HDLoader v0.7c - Dual layer support, LBA 48, no cd, disk stop.

Hdloader

If there's a better alternative to OPL, it's news to me. AFAIK, OPL is the tops - your other option is HD Advance/HD Loader, both of which are light years behind OPL. Just curious since I did try OPL some years back and was not really impressed, can you write a little more why it is better than HDLoader and the likes? It's a genuine question, not a smart-ass one One of the big compatibility differences between OPL and HDA/HDL is that OPL can play Kingdom Hearts 2 with the gummi ship segments.

Previously you had to either patch them out or have the KH2 disc in the system for it to run without crashing. If there's a better alternative to OPL, it's news to me. It's a genuine question, not a smart-ass one can't really speak to comparative differences, but fwiw opl w/ embedded gsm has been an utterly seamless and trouble-free experience for me. That seems to be the general consensus vs. Other solutions afaik.

The only issues i ever have are occasional titles that won't stream fmv smoothly across the LAN and the odd virtual mc failure. Other than those it's been top class. Currently using opl autobooted from mc using crystal chips bootmanager 2.1.6 pbat script. Is there a disc image of OPL? I've only found MC versions when I had a quick look.

Custom burnt ulaunchelf with opl onboard perhaps. Not sure if that would work, just thinking out loud.

Hmm.actually, google reports the following: see post #3. Seem to recall booting opl from usb stick once or twice as well with good results. I've never been too bothered running opl or other apps from mc as opl's virtual mc feature plays quite well with my nas for most of my game saves.

My real mc is mostly occupied by homebrew. Last edited by on Wed Apr 16, 2014 7:43 pm, edited 2 times in total. Worth noting that indexing a lot of games also increases boot times. I wouldn't install stuff you're not going to ever play. I personally see no need for anything above 500GB. When you try to play any games from HDD, you'll forget about LAN streaming pretty quickly, even for games that work loading them from HDD is just so much faster.

Also PS2 does not support SATA, your modded network adapter has a converter. To the PS2 your SATA drive is a IDE drive. Except maybe with some lacking features and glitches because those adapters usually aren't the best quality ones. OPL should have better compatibility than HDLoader, though since they're based on different code there might be games that work in HDLoader and not OPL. Perhaps what i'll do is use my NAS for archival purposes and just install to hd those which i anticipate playing on a regular. Def understand your point about 1TB being overkill but it's a new drive just sitting on a shelf collecting dust so might as well. As for the adapter, would you suggest going stock sony ide if this unit gives me problems?
