Install Windows Ce 6 On Gps

Posted on

Notice d'utilisation. Free software for Windows CE and Windows mobile based GPS systems and smartphones.

I needed to upgrade my Gps a new 7' screen system running Windows CE 6.0. I'm away from the device, it has like 428MB RAM and 8GB storage space to use. Standard miniSD slot. The GPS is named 'careLOVE' and on sale through Amazon with 4/5 stars. I pre-programmed routes from my wife's grandparents to home.

To my moms etc. I love the big screen since it's bigger and easier to see looking from road to screen due to eye focus. Question: The Windows CE, is it still supported although the version date is from 2014? Other then that, it's solid.I did accidentally managed to get under the hood and see the Windows 2000 look and feel of the underlying OS. What GPS software does it run though?

I know my old MIO unit that got stolen waaaay back ran windows CE. And it was excellent gps software, I also know that it could technically be installed on any unlocked windows CE gps unit. That's the benefit of the CE units, they're very easy to unlock, often they are already unlcoked, you just need to know how to boot them, and you can replace the GPS software with whatever else that's made for CE. Of course, I just use my 7 inch old Galaxy Tab2 that I got with an old samsung camera, when I find my mount again, for now I just use my 5. The few times I use GPS I just use the voice anyway.

It has its own propriety software on the OS.

I'm on vacation now, I'll take pictures of the Gps software. It has apps and more. I'll research and see how one can hack it when I get back.

Yesterday I paved my development PC (I was running a 32-bit beta of Windows 7) and moved to 64-bit. Paving the PC meant that I needed to re-install all of my favorite applications and tools. Installing Windows Embedded CE 6.0 has a number of steps which are listed below (with appropriate links). Perhaps the list may be useful as a “check list” for installation if you are ever in the position of needing to install from ground up. Installing Windows Embedded CE 6.0 – Steps:. Install Visual Studio 2005. (Eval link).

Mike. Mike – What your post reminds me is that Microsoft treats CE developers as second-class citizens. Why no support for VS2008? We had to install VS2005 + SP1 just for CE development.

That took the better part of a day just for that part alone. We’ve started using VS2010, which means CE will soon be two releases behind. Why not also release a single cumulative installer that performs a full, up-to-date install of CE? The incremental releases are important for people who have installed previous versions, but for those who are doing new installs, locating, downloading, and installing all those installers is a pain.

From a customer perspective, I think that Microsoft could do a better job making CE a bit less inconvenient. Hi Mike, Thanks for these steps. It’s a cool checklist to not forget anything 🙂 I’m new to Windows development (more experienced on Linux environments) and I would like to support my own 3G USB module on this embedded system, modifying the RIL part.

Also, I would like to have the same support on Windows Mobile. My problem is that I do not fully understand the dependency between Windows CE and Windows Mobile, and also I haven’t found enough references to know if I would need to be Microsoft partner to get access to more info or resources Could you put some light on these topics? Or some extensive references to read? 🙂 Thank you very very much!
